Autograph letter signed : Woodford, to Arthur Moore, [1889 Feb. 24].

Discussing a hangover (likely induced by the binge proposed in MA 1625.14). Noting that he awoke early and "waited in much distress fearing the worst." Mentioning that after a cup of strong tea and a tepid bath, he was albe to "eat largely & comprehensively" at teatime. Stating "To-morrow I begin a sever course of caring for my liver & the remaining coat of l'estomac," hoping "in two or three months" to "possibly venture a glass of claret & water." Noting that he has written nothing for "The Passion of Dr. Ludovicus," and that the effort of writing this letter has exhausted him. Mentioning that "thanks to a merciful something or other I only had 1 whiskey & that early in the day; otherwise I should be, I feel convinced, already being measured for my little blue coffin." Asking Moore to "write soon & assure me that you are still in the land of the living," and noting that this "must positively be my last 'binge.'"
